5 Star Hotels in Barcelona
The number of five star hotels in Barcelona has risen 15 fold since the 1992 Olympic Games. Most hotels in this class are part of a chain or group but, some independent five star hotels or small groups i.e. two or three hotels only in this city, do exist. Recent entries into this class are also the “design” hotels with heavy emphasis on their “wellness facilities”. As you would expect, this class has to offer top quality services and amenities. In the public areas you can expect 24 hour reception/concierge with permanent in-house security, electronic key entry (mostly). The wellness area may include a specialist spa area, a masseur or fitness instructor etc. A choice of bars and restaurants, free use of amenities that would normally be charged to non-guests would be standard. In the room expect space with quality fittings and materials. In older five star hotels in Barcelona, especially those with Moorish design, expect them to show off original features of the rooms. The alcohol in the mini-bar is generally not free even at this level although you would expect bottled water to be free. The biggest attraction in this hotel class is the level of service.
